August 2009 in Philippine History

on Tuesday, August 4, 2009

The transition period from July to August is one for the books or I should say for the history books (and should be properly written by writers...ehem ehem Zaide)

1. Former Philippine president Corazon Aquino will be buried beside her husband at Manila Memorial Park. The heavens must be crying a lot for the loss of the Filipino people and the Aquino family. The former president gave a good fight for democracy and she should be rewarded for her effort.

2. Extreme disgust over the attempt made by Malacanang especially the midget president (ehem ehem GMA) to insert new pets (I mean candidates) into the Supreme Court. Good thing the Judicial Bar Council thwarted the attempt. The midget president should be reminded about the division between the legislative, executive, and the judiciary branch. She needs to get schooled on the current constitution. I smell something sinister in the recent move of Malacanang and could it be connected to the 2010 elections?

3. Oh my! Carlo J. Caparas nominated by Malacanang to the newest batch of National Artists. What in the world were they thinking on nominating that guy who did nothing noteworthy for the country. I hope the massacre movies made by the guy does not prove how low can we go on picking candidates for the National Artists of the Philippines. Will make sure to campaign against him and make a massacre out of his nomination.
